Frequently asked questions
The app filed something in the wrong place. How do I fix it?
Tap the item once and switch it to a note, a task, or an event. There is no setting to change and no rule to register.
If the date or time was picked up incorrectly, you can edit it on the item itself.
Do I need an account?
No. Install the app and start writing; it works without an internet connection. The web lets you write without signing in too — what you write that way stays in that browser.
Signing in is needed to carry on across devices. You sign in with your Apple account, and on the web with a Google account as well. There is no separate password to create. Anything you wrote on the web before signing in moves into your account the moment you do.
How does sync between devices work?
Once you sign in, your writing is stored on our servers and appears on every device and browser signed in to the same account. Syncing your writing is free.
If the same item is edited on two devices, the one saved later wins. An item you delete does not come back on another device.
If you would rather not sync, leave the storage location set to This device only and nothing is uploaded.
How do I use it on the web?
Open oneline.date in a browser. Sign in with the same account as the app and what you wrote on your phone is there; without signing in, what you write stays in that browser. Today, Notes, Calendar and the one-line input are in the same places as in the app.
Using the web is free. Reading, writing, editing, and uploading photos, recordings and files — all of it. You do not need the app to start, and you can try it before making an account.
Each account has one storage limit. Past it, everything already uploaded stays and only new files are blocked. Your writing keeps syncing.
Purchases happen only in the app. Nothing is sold on this website and there is no checkout here.
What about attachments such as photos and recordings?
They are free. Once you sign in, photos, recordings and files are kept in the cloud whatever your plan, up to 5 GB per account, and open in both the app and the web. Past the limit, files already uploaded stay and only new ones are held back; your writing keeps syncing.
The app works this way from version 1.7.8. Attachments a free user added in earlier versions stayed on the device; they upload once the app is updated and opened.
How do I back up and restore?
Use the backup export feature to save all of your data as a single file. Keep the file wherever you like — the Files app, iCloud Drive, and so on.
To restore, choose that file in the app's restore feature. Use the same steps when you move to a new device.
Backup export and restore are free and do not require a subscription.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancellation happens in Apple's settings, not in the app. On your iPhone go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, select One Line, and tap Cancel Subscription.
After cancelling you keep Pro features until the end of the period you already paid for.
Cancelling does not remove your notes, tasks, or events. They stay on your device and keep syncing between devices, and cloud storage for attachments stays too (5 GB for everyone). Only Pro features stop.
Refunds are handled by Apple. Please use Apple's Report a Problem page.
What do I get for free?
Unlimited notes, tasks, and events; one-line sorting; calendar; reminders; widgets; backup export and restore; syncing your writing between devices; and reading, writing and uploading attachments on the web — all free, with no item caps and no ads.
Cloud storage for attachments is free as well — up to 5 GB per account, in the app (1.7.8 or later) and on the web.
What Pro includes and what it costs are shown on the purchase screen inside the app.
Is what I write sent to a server?
Not for sorting. Reading your text and filing it as a note, task, or event happens entirely on your device. There is no analytics SDK and there are no ads.
If you sign in and turn on sync, the writing itself is uploaded so that it can be stored. See the privacy policy for details.
I want to delete my account and everything on the server.
Tap Settings → Account → Delete account in the app, or Settings → Account on the web. Your account and everything stored on the server — attachments, the trash, and the copies behind any share links — are deleted immediately and irreversibly. There is no request procedure and no waiting period.
Data on the device is deleted along with the app. Export a backup first if you want to keep it — on the web you can download everything under Settings → Data.
I found a bug, or I have a feature idea.
Write to manager@x-ti.org. Telling us what you were doing when the problem appeared, and attaching a screenshot if you have one, helps a lot.
